Mariner Of The Seas
Royal Caribbean International commissioned Romero Britto to put his unique stamp on its, 3100-passenger ship, "Mariner of the Seas." The glorious pool deck is essentially an outdoor Britto art museum. His whimsical figures and playful patterns adorn two levels around the main pool, including the deck and wading area, pool, columns, wall panels, Jacuzzi and bandstand canopies above the pool bar and sky bar. The vibrant focal point is a 10 ft aluminum sculpture of a surfer entitled, "All about Fun." Britto spent more than one year on this project, from initial concept through final construction. He traveled to Turku, Finland, where the ship was built, to hand paint certain components and oversee installation.
