Romero Britto was commissioned by the town of Bay Harbor Islands to create and install a monumental, or You, Heart sculpture as part of the town ongoing rt in Public Placesinitiative started a few years ago. The sculpture joins Robert Indiana well-known ovesculpture on Kane Concourse and will be seen by thousands of commuters and residents each day who drive and walk along 96th street between Collins Avenue and Biscayne Boulevard in Bay Harbor Islands.
He could not be more thrilled that Romero Britto will grace our town with this bold colorful work of art, said Bay Harbor Islands Mayor Peter Lynch. Britto was excited to collaborate with town officials to bring his art to Bay Harbor, have always said that art is a celebration of life and that I want my art to be music to one eyes. I hope this sculpture will bring some happiness to the residents of, and visitors to, Bay Harbor. I am also honored that it takes a place close to Mr. Indiana legendary work.
